Engineering

Continental's staff of professional engineers are proficient in a wide variety of technologies, including Building Information Modeling (BIM), which employs cutting-edge, three-dimensional software to digitally create an entire building. The building blocks are geometric, construction and procurement data generated by Continental's team of designers.

By modeling representations of actual building components BIM marks a substantial departure from traditional computer-aided drafting (CAD), which combine vector-based lines to represent objects.

Competencies

The advantages are as clear as the images themselves. BIM allows our team of designers to:

  • Maintain continuity and dialogue throughout the design phase.
  • Work on the same project at the same time.
  • Improve design accuracy and improve productivity by employing clash detection, coordination, visualization and pre-fabrication functions.
  • Bridge the information gap associated with handing a project to the construction team.
  • Achieve improved cost management and project management.
  • Our engineers have not only embraced this technology, but used it to its fullest potential to provide complete and accurate 3D models to our field forces.

This video shows a 3D Walkthrough in Navisworks. All trades are modeled and differentiated by color. In this software, we produce simulations as well as run collision detection analysis.
